Accessibility Statement

How accessible the FITSOL website is, known limitations, and how to report a problem.

1. Our Commitment

FITSOL wants as many people as possible to be able to use this Website. We aim to meet level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2.

Accessibility is not a one-off exercise. We review it as the site changes, and we welcome being told when we have got something wrong.

2. What We Have Done

The Website has been built with the following in mind:

  • semantic HTML structure, so headings and landmarks make sense to a screen reader;
  • text and background colours chosen to meet contrast requirements;
  • visible focus indicators on links, buttons and form fields;
  • form fields with associated labels, and errors described in text rather than colour alone;
  • content that reflows without horizontal scrolling down to 320 pixels wide;
  • images and diagrams given text alternatives, or hidden from assistive technology where they are purely decorative;
  • animation reduced or removed for anyone whose device requests reduced motion; and
  • keyboard access to all interactive controls.

3. Known Limitations

FITSOL has not yet commissioned an independent accessibility audit of the Website. We therefore cannot state that every page and component fully conforms to WCAG 2.2 AA. We continue to review the Website as it is developed and will address accessibility issues identified through testing, user feedback and future accessibility reviews.

Common examples worth checking on any site include documents published as PDFs that are not tagged, third-party embedded content such as maps or chat widgets, and video without captions.
